It’s hard to keep positive energy these days with all the distressing and tragic events happening around the world, around you. You might be in the middle of a difficult situation in your life at the moment. Dealing with upsetting circumstances is difficult. But there’s a life formula that can make all the difference – gratitude.

Being grateful contributes to having an optimistic spirit. Harvard Health and various positive psychology research stated that giving thanks can make you happier. Gratitude helps people to have a positive emotion, relish practical experiences, improve their health, cope better with adversity, and have stronger friendships. Gratitude will help you overcome this disturbing system of things.

Let’s talk about the ways of practice to build a thankful personality.

1. Notice the good things in your life, even the smallest. Simple things like waking up in the morning, having a nutritious breakfast, weather, fresh air, or a neighbour’s smile are good things people often neglect to appreciate. But appreciating these has a beneficial impact on your physical and psychological health. When you learn to practice how to be thankful for small things, it will be easier for you to be grateful for what matters most in your life, so you won’t take them for granted. It can even help you get through a hard day. It will push you to execute kindness and compassion to your folks – in exchange are peace of mind and strong relationships.

2. Journaling. Takedown the good things that happen to you daily. Regular gratitude journaling plays a vital role in finding reasons to be grateful. The more you write about stuff to appreciate, the more you think and find appreciation.

3. Express gratitude through words. Tell the people you love they are blessings for you. If a friend or a co-worker does nice things or made your day easier, let them know, even if it happened a long time ago. Speaking about it opens the door for successful relationships.

4. Express gratitude through your actions. Most people believe that action speaks louder than words. So why not give someone a letter of appreciation, flowers, dinner, or a helping hand? This works as a signal that lets them know you value and appreciate them.

5. Meditate on the positive aspects of your life. When you are having a bad day, it can feel like darkness. Sometimes things can get heavier each day, and we forget to sit for a while and count our blessings. Meditation can help in this setting.

6. Volunteering. It is a sensible way to practice and show gratitude. When you help those in need, you see how fortunate you are to have your privileges. It will also bring on a sense of sympathy for humanity.

There are a bunch of valuable gems in your life to give thanks for. And though life gets in our way sometimes, practising gratitude is an armour that is beneficial for our physical and mental health. So, keep a grateful personality!
